Using the instant pot to sterilize and process(bath) is by far the easiest way. It keeps your jars hot while you prepare whatever you decide to can. Give it a try I am sure you will agree.
Instant Canning the Easy Way
Ingredients
- Instant Pot 2
- Jars
- Lids
- Bands
- Water
- Vinegar
- Penny
Instructions
- To Sterilize:
- First wash jar, lids, and band in hot soapy water.
- Add to the instant pot one cup of water and a little vinegar.
- Add trivet to instant pot and add jars, libs, and bands.
- Set vent to seal and select steam.
- Set for 1 minute.
- Once the time is up, allow all the steam to release naturally.
- Leave jars, lids, and bands in the instant pot until ready to use.
- When ready to can, remove lids and bands and place them on a clean towel and cover until ready to use.
- Replace lid on instant pot and leave jars in instant to remain hot until ready to use.
- Remove jar, fill and top with lids and bands.
- To Process (Bathe):
- In the second instant pot, put a penny in the bottom of the pot.
- Add trivet and add enough water to the top of the trivet.
- Add a little vinegar.
- Set Vent to:VENTING NOT SEAL.
- Press steam and when the valve comes up, set a timer for 15 minutes.
- When the time is up, shut off and wait for the valve to go down before opening.
- Remove jars carefully and place them on a towel to cool for 24 hours.
Notes
Process pints for 10 minutes and quarts for 15.
